How customs works
Every cross border shipment will need documentation to be exported out of the origin country and will need to be cleared by local customs in the destination.
Arta collects all necessary information from the seller to export the shipment and the same information will be used by the destination country to import.
Typically for high value purchases, there are duties and taxes due to import the shipment. These costs are paid by the receiver and will need to be paid before they shipment can be delivered.
Arta has two options for paying customs charges. Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) enables recipients to pay duties, taxes and fees up front - when booking shipping or once the shipment is confirmed. Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) means you will be contacted by customs or the carrier when the shipment arrives in the destination country.
