How to Prepare
International shipments must be cleared by customs before they can be delivered. Here’s what you need to know about the process:
- Import duties & taxes and paperwork requirements are assessed by the importing country upon arrival using information provided by the exporter. No action is required by the recipient until the packages arrive in the importing country.
- Phone numbers are required to be local to the importing country. If the contact information on your shipment does not meet this requirement, you can reply to any Arta email or contact us to update it.
- If shipping Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), you will prepay customs charges when the shipment is booked or soon after. Arta will remit payment to customs on your behalf.
- If shipping Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), you will be contacted by the carrier or customs when the shipment arrives in the destination country.
- You may be contacted by Arta, the local customs authority or carrier to provide additional necessary documents. Documents are typically your identification, or proof of payment for the objects.
- Failure to promptly pay customs will result in the package being returned and you will be responsible for any related charges to return and then reship the package.
